Sadly, many students in Cambodia have to drop out of school because they can’t afford some basic needs such as a bicycle to get to school, clothes or just pencil and paper. Thanks to the generous support by Noora Gisselberg and Britt-Mari Bjorklund from Finland ACED will now be able to provide for scholarships which help up to 10 poor students to go school. Any further help is very welcome.

Giving the poorest of the poor, especially girls, a better chance to learn: this is what Britt’s Learning Center (BLC) stands for. BLC opened its doors March 20th 2009 at ACED’s office in Bavel. About 50 poor students will now have the opportunity to take free English lessons from Monday to Friday by experienced language teachers.

ACED is also planning to establish computer courses at BLC. By offering free courses to the poorest of the poor, ACED will help them to improve their future prospects and create better living conditions for themselves. ACED is able to set up BLC thanks to Britt-Mari Bjorklund of Finland, who was a volunteer with ACED and has now become Member of ACED Board of Directors, and takes pride in naming the center after her.
